Welcome to our Gîtes at La Fontaine Rouillée, near Plessala in Brittany, France
La Fontaine Rouillée is a lovely spot for a self catering holiday in a friendly, rural area of Cotes d’Armor where it is just so easy to relax, unwind and forget the pressures of everyday life. This hamlet is the location of our two character country cottages which provide well equipped, comfortable, year round holiday / vacation rental accommodation situated in beautiful, tranquil countryside near Plessala, a market village, in central Brittany.

La Belle Maison is a charmingly updated, detached two bedroom traditional Breton cottage which has its own enclosed south-west facing garden tucked away in rolling countryside. The single level accommodation is privately accessed, not overlooked and has wide ranging views over the surrounding fields. The combination of a beautiful and peaceful location along with easy access to a variety of tourist attractions, provides a relaxing hide-away for couples or young families and the perfect touring base to explore Brittany.
La Vieille Longere is a fully renovated ancient stone long-house, which is semi-detached with our own home in Brittany. The gîte accommodation has completely separate facilities, both indoors and out, and is flexible enough to be rented either as a spacious one bedroom ground floor apartment for couples, or as a larger three bedroom house suitable for groups of up to six adult friends, or older families (sorry, children under 10 not accepted). There is a large open paddock behind the longere and a spacious, herb bordered BBQ terrace with magnificent views to the distant forest.
Both gîtes are equipped for self-catering breaks in summer or winter.
We are happy to welcome guests for everything from long weekends to monthly house-hunting lets, with no restrictions on change-over days, (subject only to existing bookings).

These gîtes are ideal for nature lovers. Birds, butterflies and wild flowers are everywhere; hares, deer and even wild boar may be seen in the area.
Walkers and cyclists will discover marked circular trails around the commune, beside the river and into the forest. Follow one of the routes that range from a couple of kilometres to 50km hikes. If you are feeling energetic, try hiring a kayak to negotiate the River Lie from a different angle, or join an accompanied pony trek through Loudeac forest.
Maybe you are just seeking a peaceful and agreeable place to relax between sightseeing trips around Brittany - La Fontaine Rouillee will provide that. Relish the chance to slow down and appreciate nature in the delightful surroundings of the Landes du Mené, an area of ancient moorland in south-east of Cotes d’Armor where the source of the River Rance rises amongst the granite hills that created this beautiful area.
All of which will leave you with a good appetite, ready to appreciate the seasonal, local produce available in one of the regular markets in the region. Or sample traditional Breton fare at an auberge, creperie or restaurant; here the world stops for 2 hours at lunch time, finding somewhere to savour good food really helps make each day of your holiday a special occasion.
In the evenings use the built-in BBQs or snuggle up in front of the wood burners; experience a Breton fest noz, visit a late market or star gaze in the unpolluted skies whilst enjoying a glass of the local cider.

Since we started letting our holiday cottages in 2006 we have strived to provide comfortable homes from home, whilst retaining original features in the buildings.
